Did you know that Zipcar helps to reduce traffic and parking congestion in cities around the world?
Turns out, each shared Zipcar takes 13 personally-owned cars off the road. The world’s largest car-sharing network partnered with Expand to bring to life the good news and rich data in Zipcar’s 2021 Impact Report and other deliverables.
In the spirit of sharing, Zipcar brought along their lead Creative Director and a team of copywriters and graphic designers. We came with one of our Creative Directors, Nelson Holland, and her in-house and in-agency design experience.

Plus, her availability to deliver a share-worthy 40-page Impact Report, infographic, and PPT presentation. “Sometimes you just need to book a car for a few hours. Nelson collaborated closely with Zipcar’s Creative Director to ensure vision was set and brand expectations were met. The goal was to tell the visual story of how Zipcar’s car-sharing enables simple and responsible urban living. As Nelson shares, “It was so inspiring to get to work with the extensive library of custom illustrated artwork that Zipcar provided. It laid the beautiful groundwork for the Impact Report, while I could focus on bringing a fresh eye to things and helping the visual brand grow.”
For instance, Zipcar wanted to switch things up and try a new mobile-friendly design for their 2021 edition of the Impact Report. So Nelson focused on a 16:9 aspect ratio ideal to best enable optimal viewing of the robust and engaging report on car-sharing benefits to urban communities.
To help the Zipcar team share feedback quickly and efficiently after review meetings, Nelson provided PDFs of the creative comps. Gathering team input asynchronously was simple and helped speed up turnaround times.
Once the exciting 2021 Impact Report was ready for launch, Nelson was able to spin out the accompanying infographic and PPT presentation to help Zipcar share the impact of their vision for “more sustainable and equitable city life.”
Our “creative-sharing” partnership continues today, with Expand supporting numerous Zipcar marketing efforts, including display ad campaigns, paid social ads, and internal corporate-wide PowerPoint and Word templates.
